What does it mean to truly love yourself? This is a topic that comes up again & again in my work... In workshops, in one-on-one sessions, & on my own personal journey. Please watch the video below, where I discuss what it means to have a Radical Practice of Self-Love!

Embodying the Light & Dark Too often in our modern society, we are taught to hide our emotions. We are socialized to believe that only the happy, bubbly, & motivated energies are beneficial to our journey. These emotions are labeled "positive" while others such as sadness, darkness, & stagnation are labeled "negative". It is my belief that this operating system is extremely limiting. It keeps us from embodying the full spectrum of the human experience, it hides & shames our ability to feel so very deeply. Let's get right into it... We are ALL depressed sometimes. We are ALL lazy sometimes. EVERYONE experience darkness at some point on their journey. Perhaps instead of ignoring these energies, we should focus on integrating them into our path. Perhaps it is time for us view our emotions as conversations with our Higher Selves, lessons for us to learn. Below is a poem I wrote called "Being Spectrum" that speaks to this idea. I lose sight in the moment when destruction won't cease, The most difficult of times always leads to calm and peace. It’s more than just “one can’t exist without the other”. It’s that both exist WITHIN each other! It’s an infinite cycle, an ever-turning wheel. It’s a download of emotions, making sense through how I FEEL. When you trust in the flow, when you learn to let go, When you bask in the darkness and lowest of lows. A clarity transcendent, a heavenly light, Both on the same spectrum, neither one “right”. There’s no need to fight, though I try with all my might. A closed fist holds no water, slips through fingers tight. So my palms open up and raise towards the sky. Lifting my being to the highest of highs! Take a look at this video I created where I reflect on periods of darkness in flow arts. When we begin to work with the infinite cycle of death & rebirth, we begin to apply the lessons that we learn to all aspects of our being, helping us to thrive in our most optimum human existence! |
